Piercing Gauge Sizes

Body piercing gauges refer to the thickness or diameter of the jewelry that is used in a piercing. The gauge size is important because it determines the size of the hole that needs to be made for the jewelry to fit properly. The higher the gauge number, the thinner the jewelry. Here are the standard body piercing gauges:

Nose:

  • Nose Studs: 20 gauge (0.8 mm) or 18 gauge (1.0 mm)

Ear:

  • Standard Earlobe: 20 gauge (0.8 mm) or 18 gauge (1.0 mm)
  • Helix (Cartilage): 20 gauge (0.8 mm) or 18 gauge (1.0 mm)
  • Tragus: 18 gauge (1.0 mm)
  • Conch: 16 gauge (1.2 mm) or 14 gauge (1.6 mm)
  • Industrial: 14 gauge (1.6 mm)

Face:

  • Eyebrow: 18 gauge (1.0 mm)
  • Lip (Labret): 16 gauge (1.2 mm) or 14 gauge (1.6 mm)
  • Tongue: 14 gauge (1.6 mm)

Body:

  • Nipple: 14 gauge (1.6 mm) or 12 gauge (2.0 mm)

Belly Button:

  • Standard Belly Button: 14 gauge (1.6 mm) or 12 gauge (2.0 mm)

Genital:

  • Male Genital (Prince Albert): 10 gauge (2.4 mm) or 8 gauge (3.2 mm)
  • Female Genital (Clitoral Hood, Labia): 14 gauge (1.6 mm) or 12 gauge (2.0 mm)
